Hello, as a potential constituent and employee of the TCC district, I am wondering how your calls for “balancing the need for deterrence with the pursuit of lasting peace through dialogue and negotiation” will actually help the Palestinians right now as the majority of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed; Hamas and non-Hamas resistance leaders has come to the negotiating board several times with a three month plan for the release of hostages, release of Palestinian prisoners, and demilitarization of Gaza, yet Israel refuses to listen. The focus on deterrence denies Palestinian sovereignty– the presence of a police state, violating checkpoints and discriminatory arrests, constant land theft and settler violence, the absolute control of the Palestinian economy, of what comes and goes out specifically in Gaza, is what creates the need for resistance to begin with.
