Yet, they face unique economic challenges that need tailored, forward-thinking solutions. My vision for our rural economies is rooted in our core values of integrity, service, and equity, ensuring that no part of our district is left behind as we forge a path toward prosperity.
Access to quality education, healthcare, and modern infrastructure are not just urban privileges; they are rights that belong to every American, rural and urban alike. I am committed to bridging the digital divide that hampers our rural areas, advocating for high-speed internet access that can transform education, healthcare, and business opportunities. By expanding telemedicine, we can ensure that rural residents receive the healthcare they need without the burden of long-distance travel.
Small businesses and family farms are the lifeline of our rural economy. I propose targeted tax breaks, grants, and interest-free loans for these businesses to thrive, especially those affected by the economic repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will work to cut red tape, making it easier for rural entrepreneurs to succeed and for family farms to pass on to the next generation without punitive financial burdens.
Renewable energy presents a significant opportunity for rural District 12. Investments in wind, solar, and biofuels not only align with our commitment to a cleaner environment but also promise job creation and a stable revenue source for our communities. We will seek partnerships that bring these technologies to our district, along with the training programs necessary for our workforce to lead this charge.
Our rural veterans, who have given so much for our country, deserve easy access to the benefits they have earned. My plan includes improving the reach and responsiveness of VA services within our rural communities, ensuring our veterans are supported both in health and in transitioning to civilian life.
